If he was in luck, Freddy was still at the restaurant and it would give him that chance to ask that all-important question, even though he was not altogether sure exactly why he was getting himself involved, it seemed like maybe a quick trip to the morgue, or maybe, the man answers the question.

Of course, he was no longer there, it had been a couple of hours since he had eaten. Well, he had made irrational moves before, but this one he would follow through on.

He considered his next move and it was head home, take care of what needed to be taken care of. He would see Freddy soon enough.

The Dodge rolled smoothly down the open road. It seemed he hadn't a care in the world, which was far from true, there was the girl and there was Brazaga, both would be trouble no matter how you sliced it. One, because she was accidentally dangerous, the other, because he was certifiable. The conversation was just long enough to confirm any ideas Michael had about the man.

He'd seen them before, seen them in action, and knew he didn't want one of them on his tail. The dame? That would be different, no less dangerous, but different in she wouldn't mean to get him killed. Then again, maybe not.

Michael O'Rourke looked at as a small-time racketeer, but with his two accomplices, he moved more booze than a number of the big guys, not to mention guns, munitions, and rolling with the number one drug in the country, cocaine. The last thing he needed was the blonde.

In a couple of hours, he would be home in Key West and see about taking delivery from Dixon Steel.
