Mary-Alice or Alice (as she likes to be called) is a 13-year-old student at Miss. Harris' School for Girls on Brickell Avenue. She dislikes the boarding school mainly because she feels as though she was discarded there by her well-to-do father and his new wife. Recently, they have absconded on a honeymoon trip to parts unknown.
Alice is demure and has a melancholy sort of air about her. Quite often she can be found on the school grounds lost in reverie. She enjoys a good book and playing the violin (a skill she aptly learned from her mother).
Despite her reserved nature, she has a strong will and yearns to leave the confines of the school. She would like to explore Miami.
